About Wi-Fi technology
Wi-Fi stands for abbreviated Wireless Fidelity. This name, similar to Hi-Fi, signifies one of the formats for transmitting digital data over radio channels, an IEEE 802.11b standard, to be specific.
Devices using the 802.11b standard can transmit data with a maximum speed of 11 Mbps at a 2.4 GHz frequency. The 802.11b network traffic-handling capacity is comparable to that of a medium capacity allocated channel, that only a few companies, let alone individual households, can afford. |
